Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the Answers to a few of the questions we've been asked, if your question isn't answered here please e-mail us.

Q: Where is the Dominican Republic
A: The Dominican Republic is located on the island of Hispaniola between Cuba and Puerto Rico.  The Dominical Republic occupies the eastern two-thirds of the island and Haiti occupies the western third of the the island.  Sosúa is located on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic

Q: How are you paid?
A: We are serving as missionaries in the Dominican Republic.  We are not on staff with New Missions and do not receive a salary.  We are supported by churches, families, and individuals that believe in what God is doing in the Dominican Republic who send monthly or one-time gifts of financial support.

Q: When are your birthdays?
A: John - June 12, Melissa - June 5, Kate - March 6

Q: Are you scared to be living in another country?
A: God has made it clear that this is his plan for us at this time.  Our choice was to go or stay and be outside of his will for us.  If there is anything we are scared of it was staying.  We are convinced that God wants what is best for us, and by obedience we will experience the best he has.

Q: How can I support you?
A: Our financial support is administered by New Missions.  All gifts can be sent to             New Missions PO BOX 2727 Orlando, FL 32802.  Please mark your gift as Hanley Support or M0027 on the memo line.  Your gifts are tax deductible, and a giving statement will be provided by New Missions at the end of each year.  We receive 100% of the financial support sent in for us.
